Euan makes clean sweep of piping awards at the Mod.
It is quite rare to win everything on one day, says triumphant Oban man
Oban piper Euan MacCrimmon swept the boards in the adult piping competitions at the Royal National Mod in Caithness on Saturday.
Mr MacCrimmon, 35, originally from Inverness, won the piobaireachd, as well as the march, strathspey and reel, and the hornpipe and jig competitions held at Wick High School.
The chartered surveyor with Bell Ingram plays with grade one pipe band Spirit of Scotland, an elite group made up of top pipers from throughout the country.
He won the prestigious gold medal at the Argyllshire Gathering at Oban in 2005 and the silver chanter at Dunvegan Castle in Skye in 2006.
Speaking after his Mod victory, he said: “It was great. It is quite rare to win everything on one day. It doesn’t happen very often. It was a good day.”
