• Bell Ingram Design appointed in £1M restoration of Inverness Town Steeple

    Inverness Town Steeple 1Dec2010

Bell Ingram Design has recently been appointed as Conservation & Project Managers for the £950k restoration of the Inverness Town Steeple.

The project involves sensitive masonry repairs including stone indenting, forming new intricate detailing and re-pointing. Designed by Andrew Laing, the steeple is all that remains of the Burgh Buildings, built in 1791, which comprised a courthouse, jail and the 130 foot spire. The grade A listed steeple was damaged by an earthquake in 1816.

Frazer Gillespie, an Associate Building Surveyor in Bell Ingram's Inverness office said of the appointment; 'This is an excellent project to be en-trusted with and will most definitely raise our conservation profile in Inverness and throughout the Highlands.'
