• Argyll house sales double the national average

Bell Ingram’s Oban office has just confirmed that since 1 January 2009 they have completed 20 residential property sales: comprising a total of £4.5M worth of property, with an average sale value of £250,000.

Paul Nicoll Director in charge of the Oban office said “We are finding that the market has certainly begun to pick up over the past two weeks and we now have seriously interested buyers, not only from the local area but also from the rest of the United Kingdom, seeking to move to Argyll.”

“We are also finding that mortgages are now more freely available, we are receiving far more enquiries about properties and we’re arranging a lot more viewings, with a number of negotiations still on going.”

Examples of some of the recent Oban office sales are Arichonan (offers over £265,000) and Linnhe House (offers over £550,000) both of which sold for well in excess of the guide price. (See attached particulars.)

This goes some way to disproving the apparent downward spiral of the property market, in Argyll at least, but it is not being reflected on the east coast where numbers of sales and interested buyers are still considerably lower.
