New Sporting Destinations in the Scottish Highlands

With a new sporting season in prospect we are delighted to announce that we have added 3 spectacular new sporting destinations in the northern Highlands to our Sporting & Lodges for let.

Ledmore Estate
The Ledmore Estate lochs Veyatie, Cam and Urigill present some of the best wild trout fishing in the Western Highlands amidst the spectacular setting of West Sutherland. The underlying limestone rock creates very favourable brown trout habitat and all three main lochs provide challenging sport.

Lower Kanaird Fishings
The River Kanaird is located just a few miles north of Ullapool, and offers challenging fly fishing for both salmon and sea trout. The river is a West Coast spate river originating in the hills of west Sutherland and discharging into Ardmair Bay via Loch Kanaird. The Keanchulish beats occupy 4 miles of double bank fishing on the lower river before it enters Loch Kanaird.

The Lairg Estate
The estate offers a variety of accommodation and sporting including: Lairg Lodge for 14, Twinners Cottage for 6, Reids Cottage for 4, Salmon Fishing 2 beats of 4 rods, Trout Fishing and Red Deer Stalking.

The River Shin is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets. There are over thirty named pools on the upper Shin. The Estate water is split into two beats, and each beat has up to four rods fishing at any one time. The season starts towards the end of May and closes on the last day of September.

Brown trout in Loch Shin average ½ lb, but some very large fish are taken early in the season. The Estate has several excellent rivers, small lochs, and burns to choose from. Experienced guides can be arranged. Loch Beannach has some exceptional trout. All the fish are wild native brown trout.

Stag stalking is available from the end of September to 20 October. Stalking is for one rifle per day normally on five days each week accompanied by the Estate stalker.

For golfers: there are some of the best courses in the whole of the UK just a short drive from Lairg including Golspie, Brora and Tain with the most famous being Royal Dornoch.
