BELL INGRAM DESIGN SERVICES
The Design Department has many years of experience in
providing the highest level of professional service, from
the provision of building surveys to the project management
of major contracts. The services which are provided can be
summarised under the following headings:-
Building Conservation
Bill McConnell, Director, is the first Scottish building
surveyor to be awarded RICS Accreditation in Building
Conservation, recognised by Historic Scotland and other
Government Departments. Correct Specification and
administration of projects affecting Listed or historic
buildings is therefore undertaken, utilising this expertise.
Architectural Design and Contract Administration
Our service can span the life of a building project, from
the inception stage to contract management and
administration, through to completion. Major contracts have
included the conversion of a mansion house to a school and
the refurbishment of a historic building for Scottish
Natural Heritage. We can therefore undertake feasibility
studies for any proposed change of use and follow through to
completion.
Building Surveys
As part of forward maintenance planning and programming, a
full building survey report is essential to establish the
existing condition and identify defects. The report will
form the basis of future maintenance and building projects.
Housing Refurbishment and Upgrading
Our knowledge of planning and building legislation, together
with grant procedures, allows us to provide the most cost
effective solution to housing improvement work

Planning
Strategy
The Design Department can provide feasibility sketches for
the development of surplus land or buildings, leading to
increased values or development projects.
Fire Insurance/Reinstatement
It is essential that properties are correctly valued for
insurance purposes and Bell Ingram Design Services has the
necessary experience in this specialist service. In
addition, it is vital that any reinstatement works are
carried out under the guidance of suitably qualified
surveyors.
Land Surveys
Other staff have extensive experience in the survey of land
and buildings and the production of professional drawings
and plans.
Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations
Using a format which has evolved over the years, Bell Ingram
Design Services can produce Schedules of Condition for
specific purposes, such as pre-blasting or prior to the
renewal of a lease.
