Description

Tressady offers guests the opportunity to experience the traditional hospitality and elegance of a Highland sporting lodge situated within the privacy of extensive gardens and policies. The lodge is close to Sutherland’s east coast with an elevated south facing position and magnificent views across Strath Fleet.

Guests can enjoy the warm atmosphere of a beautifully furnished private house with open log fires and house staff to ensure your stay is a memorable occasion. Parties may choose to self-cater or employ the services of our cook who will discuss with you a range of menu ideas based on traditional Scottish recipes designed to meet every taste.

The lodge is fully furnished for parties up to twelve guests, with accommodation for a limited number of additional guests by arrangement. Lettings are weekly with guests arriving after 4.00 pm on Sunday and departing by 11.00 am on Saturday.

Dornoch and Golspie on the east coast provide a range of local services including shopping facilities, hotels, garages, post offices, health centre and gift shops. There is also a local village store and post office in Rogart. Inverness can be reached in a little over an hour by car and provides all the services of a major regional centre.

Guests have access to the Tressady Estate extending some 22,000 acres and offering a range of sporting activities when in season including red and roe deer stalking, driven pheasant, partridge, flighted duck, hill loch fishing and rough shooting. A full clay pigeon shoot is situated within the policies. Close to the lodge, Yves Loch provides guests with fly fishing for hard fighting rainbow trout before setting forth to the hill in search of the wild brown trout. A Glenalmond hill vehicle and Argocat are available with guide to take guests for a tour of the hill where red deer, golden eagles and red grouse among many other species may be seen.

Other recreational facilities close by include sea fishing from Brora, golf at Royal Dornoch, Golspie and Brora, swimming from numerous sandy beaches or the heated swimming pool in Golspie, pony trekking or simply visiting the many places of historic interest in this fascinating part of the Highlands. Dunrobin Castle, the ancient seat of the Earls of Sutherland, one mile north of Golspie is open to the public from May to September and is well worth a visit.

 

Accommodation

Tressady was one of the Duke of Sutherland’s most beautiful Hunting lodges which has been fully restored and luxuriously furnished with beautiful antiques.

Tressady offers guests the opportunity to experience traditional Highland Hospitality exclusively.

The lodge comfortably sleeps 10 – 12 people and is fully equipped with a most luxurious kitchen, beautiful Egyptian dining room, all the bedrooms have their own theme, ie. Marie Antoinette, Chinese, The Italian Roman room, all en suite.

Chef and butler available by arrangement.

Situated west of Rogart and close to Sutherland’s east coast, guests have access to sporting on over 22,000 acres of the Tressady estate and fishing on the rivers Brora and Fleet

A telephone and fax machine are available for the use of the guests.

Traditional Stone Lodge - Self Catering

There is an additional lodge with 4 bedrooms available, beautifully refurbished to a very high standard, ideal for golfing parties, available all year.

Sporting

Salmon and Sea Trout Fishing

Tressady has 5 miles of double bank fishing on the river Fleet, a small spate river with runs of salmon and sea trout from mid July to the end of season October 15th. Salmon fishing is also available on the Upper Brora with 8 miles of several pools providing good fishing if conditions are favourable.

Loch Fishing

Hill loch fishing for brown trout is available on 3 hill lochs. Boat available.
Yves Loch, within a few minutes walk from the lodge, offers exciting fishing for rainbow trout.

Roe Stalking

Roe buck stalking is available for two months during May and June also can be combined with stag stalking in the autumn. Roe doe stalking can be arranged during the season between October 21st and March 31st.

Red Deer Stalking

Stalking is available from the middle of September until October 20th. Stalking is for 2 rifles per day, normally on 5 days each week, accompanied by the Estate stalker with the possibility of an additional stalker for an additional rifle. Stags are taken off the hill with the use of a Glenalmond or Argocat. Hind stalking is also available from October 21st onwards.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

A fully equipped Clay Pigeon course is set up within the lodge grounds and shooting is available for guests under the supervision of the estate keeper.

Golf

For those who prefer to hit a ball rather than a moving target, there is golf available on the many superb golf courses within 20 miles of TRESSADY. The famous Royal Dornoch is only 12 miles from the estate.

Lodge and Sporting Rents 2007/2008

The basic rent for the lodge varies with the time of the year and includes all accommodation for up to 12 guests together with the services of a housekeeper and a cleaner for 4 hours each day.

All sporting is subject to season and availability at additional cost.

Rabbits                         £75       per gun/day (minimum charge £300 per day)

Woodcock                     £150     per gun/day (minimum charge £450 per day)

Argocat                         £225     per day (including driver)

Salmon/Sea Trout          £50       per rod/day

Hill Loch Fishing                        including in lodge rental

Clay Targets                  £15       per 25 + cartridges and rental of gun if required
