Property with a Story to Tell

2006 is proving to be a particularly good year for the property market with an unusually high number of sales taking place before the traditional start of the season.

Estate agents used to have plenty of time to get their offices in order during the winter months leading up to the appearance of the first daffodils but this now seems to be becoming an increasingly rare practice.

The 2006 season was off to a quick and furious start much earlier than in previous years which has been a very positive reflection on the UK economy overall.

The vast majority of purchasers last year were buying property from Bell Ingram in order to relocate their families with 60% already living in Scotland and this year looks set to follow a similar pattern.

With summer now well under way there are a great many exciting properties coming to the market across the country and two of particular interest currently being sold by Bell Ingram are the sporting estates of Tressady in Sutherland and Cairnton in Kincardineshire.

Both properties come with a significant estate and an impressive history and have already generated a great deal of interest from a variety of potential UK buyers.

Archie Leslie-Melville of Bell Ingram comments “It isn’t often that property of this quality comes up for sale and certainly not two at the same time. We’re very excited at the prospect of finding new owners for both Cairnton and Tressady estates and we have already been holding viewings for a lot of interested parties.

Tressady Estate, By Lairg, Sutherland

Tressady Estate lies between Strath Brora and Strath Fleet in East Sutherland amidst the stunning scenery associated with this magnificent part of the Highlands. Tressady is a fine all round residential and sporting estate extending to about 21,400 acres.

Tressady Lodge, the principle residence, was built by the Duke of Sutherland as a sporting lodge in about 1871 and provides comfortable accommodation, with 12 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms plus a shower room, in the most attractive private setting with fine views across Loch Fleet.

The lodge comes with its own four bedroom Keepers Cottage, two bedroom Gardeners Cottage and two bedroom Flat. The Estate offers a superb range of sporting opportunities with rough shooting of mixed game (pheasant and woodcock), grouse moor, salmon and trout fishing along eight miles of the Upper Brora and five miles of the River Fleet as well as deer stalking.

The asking price for Tressady Estate is £1.2M and is being sold by Martin Long who can be contacted on
