Welcome

Graham Lumby
Managing Director

Yet another 6 months have shot past since I wrote the last lead article for the Bell Ingram Review and like most of us I struggle to see exactly where the time goes. The firm has had another busy half year and we have again tried to cover subjects within the Review, based on our experiences, which are both topical and relevant to you.

This time last year Mary Murray, one of our Perth based architects and a divisional director, wrote in the Winter 06/07 Review about ‘Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Microgeneration’ and this generated an enormous amount of interest from readers and clients alike. Now exactly 12 months on we have employed the pioneering services of Joe Fergusson, our Microgeneration Consultant, who is one of the country’s leading experts in this field. It is also the first appointment of its kind for a firm such as ours that I am aware of and enables us to provide first class independent advice on energy efficient systems and energy generation on a

building scale. You can read Joe’s first Review article on page 2 and we have also updated our website with the latest information on climate change and microgeneration which can be viewed at www.bellingram.co.uk/climate-change

Bell Ingram’s roots date back to 1899 since when rural land and estate management has remained our core business. Within these ever changing times however it is often difficult for an estate or farm owner to visualise the best way forward and our land agents are continually tasked with helping clients to plan and secure their future interests. Mike Thompson, director in charge of our rural land management division, has penned a thought provoking feature on ‘Where go’eth we’ in which he offers an invaluable insight into what to consider when planning for the coming years and what can be done now to maximise your assets.

We also have an excellent guest article from Viscount Charles Dupplin of Hiscox Insurance; arguably the country’s leading insurer of individuals and private properties. Charles’ speciality is fine arts and antiques and he regularly lectures across the globe on his favourite topic. In his Review feature Charles provides valuable information on the worrying trend of underinsurance.

I hope you enjoy this latest edition of the Bell Ingram Review and as we are now in the season of Advent, may I take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas with best wishes from us all at Bell Ingram for a Happy New Year.
