Electricity Lines and Cable Services
Bell Ingram has been providing wayleaving services to the electricity industry throughout the UK for over 15 years. Our services include referencing for new build cables and overhead lines as well as tree clearance and maintenance work.

Initial contracts with National Grid to provide Wayleave Officers on secondment led to the provision of in-house wayleaving services to companies such as:
- Scottish and Southern Energy
- Scottish Power
- NEDL (Northern Electric Distribution Limited)
- YEDL (Yorkshire Electric Distribution Limited)
- Central Networks
With extensive experience working for clients under the various Electricity Acts, Bell Ingram is able to provide a full range of wayleaving services for both new overhead/cable projects and on the refurbishment of existing overhead lines, including tree clearance work.
Wayleaving Services in Scotland and England
The Company also acts on behalf of windfarm developers in negotiating with landowners the rights for cables for windfarm grid connections and has experience in negotiating with the Crown Estate on sub-sea electricity cables.

New Build Overhead Lines and Cables
Knowledge of the infrastructure to be installed and the methods of construction, along with an understanding of the Electricity Acts, enable Bell Ingram to operate independently and with minimal input and supervision from the client.
We reference proposed routes and agree access for survey work. We prepare wayleave documents and plans from survey drawings and pole/tower schedules provided by clients.
We obtain signed wayleaves from grantors, agree access routes for construction work and prepare written and photographic records of condition.
We will quantify and agree claims for crop compensation and disturbance with farmers or agents and provide advice on reinstatement and drainage defects resulting from the works.
Refurbishment and Tree Clearance
A good understanding of the works required on a property ensures that sensible and practical access routes are agreed, thus reducing delays on site and keeping crop loss and damage to a minimum.
We visit landowners to discuss the refurbishment works required, including tree felling, and agree access routes for works to be carried out. If required, written and photographic records of condition are completed before entry.
We assess crop damage and disturbance as a result of works and negotiate suitable levels of compensation with farmers or agents upon completion of the works. When a change of ownership is established, we will prepare new Wayleave agreements and obtain signatures from grantors.
