ACCOMMODATION

The Estate has a variety of accommodation available to suit all budgets and all interests from traditional sportsmen to golfers, hill walkers, or simply those seeking the space and peace of the Highlands.

Lairg Lodge sleeps up to 14. The Lodge is a fine example of a typical Sutherland sporting lodge with bluff granite walls, set on an imposing site overlooking Lairg with panoramic views to the south and west over Loch Shin. The Lodge is staffed by a house keeper and is let with a cook and assistant provided.

Twinners is a fishing bungalow which sleeps up to 6, and is a short walk from the River.

Reids Cottage is a newly refurbished croft house which sleeps 4.

FISHING
The Lairg Estate and the River Shin are situated one hours drive north of Inverness. The river Shin is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets. The Lairg Estate water starts at the dam below little Loch Shin, in the new artificial pool appropriately named the Dam pool, and continues down river for approximately three miles until a pool called Grief. There are over thirty named pools on the upper Shin. The Estate water is split into two beats, and each beat has up to four rods fishing at any one time. The season starts towards the end of May and closes on the last day of September

Brown trout in Loch Shin average ½lb, but very large fish are taken early in the season. The Estate has several excellent rivers, small lochs, and burns to choose from. Experienced guides can be arranged. Loch Beannach has some exceptional Trout, and in the past few years fish of up to 5lb have been caught. All the fish are wild native brown trout.

Special trout fishing weeks are available on the Lairg Estate's water on the Shin, during April, May and June. Daily bags of up to 40+ trout are possible.

STALKING
Stag stalking is available from the end of September to 20 October. Stalking is for one rifle per day normally on five days each week accompanied by the Estate stalker. The Estate has access to both open hill and woodland stalking. Hind stalking is also available from 21 October onwards.

GOLF
There are some of the best courses in the whole of the UK just a short drive from Lairg. The most famous being Royal Dornoch although others may be found at Golspie, Brora and Tain with the nearest to Lairg being the very challenging course of Bonar Bridge.
