7b Drimisdale is a well-presented architect-designed property which is set in an idyllic location overlooking Loch Stilligarry which hosts a variety of wildlife. Croft – 7 Drimisdale
7 Drimisdale is registered as a tenanted croft extending to 14.17ha (35acres) with additional rights to graze cattle over the extensive Drimisdale Common Grazing and a share in the Drimisdale Sheep Stock Club.
The Croft comprises the main block of approx. 8.17ha (20acres) of land surrounding the House and including the Agricultural Barn, with two separate blocks of land the (Enlargement approximately 2.5ha (6.2acres) and the Apportionment approximately 3.35ha (8.3acres)) both located within one mile from the House. The current owner has undertaken extensive fencing, pasture improvement, drainage and created the access track, and all areas now have stock-proof fencing and gates. The land is registered with SGRPID and eligible for LFASS and BPS Region 1 payments.
There are associated rights to graze 5 cows on the nearby Drimisdale Common Grazings which includes some machair, renowned for its species-rich pasture, and rights to cut peats on the hill ground. The croft also comes with a share in the Drimisdale Sheep Stock Club which runs 100 Scottish Blackface ewes and is managed communally.
The croft is in a SSSI and SAC and adjoins Loch Druidibeag National Nature Reserve and the current owner has managed it with the exceptional wildlife and biodiversity in mind and has benefitted from an Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS) agreement which expires this year. This agreement can be renewed by the new tenant.
Agricultural Barn
The Agricultural Shed consists of the main barn which measures 18.3m x 8.9m x 4.4m to the eaves and a lean-to on the north side measuring 13.7m x 4.6m. The main barn is open plan and suitable for housing cattle or general storage whilst the lean-to is sub-divided into 3-4 pens with a feed barrier and water troughs. The shed has a concrete floor throughout, concrete block walls to 1.5m and profile sheeting for the side walls and roof. There is Yorkshire boarding along the north side above the feed barrier.
