Wayleaves and Consents

Bell Ingram have one of the most experienced teams of specialist utility surveyors and wayleave officers, supplying services to pipelines promotors for over 45 years and to the electricity industry from the 1990s. We currently act for all electricity operators and for most of the major pipeline operators across Scotland and the north of England.

We provide Wayleave Officers and Land Agents to secure landowner and occupier consents and wayleaves for the rights to install and operate overhead and underground equipment, including gas pipelines, underground and overhead electricity or telecom cables. The service includes preparation of wayleave and consent documents, along with plans of the route across each grantor’s property. If needed, we will advise clients on suitable payments to be made to landowners and occupiers for the rights being sought.

Bell Ingram’s surveyors will secure signed wayleaves and consents for cross country projects, negotiating suitable terms for the rights being sought by utility clients to install and operate schemes.

We also supply Wayleave Wardens and Agricultural Liaison Officers to monitor the contractors’ performance as works progress, along with Drainage Consultants and agricultural inspectors.

In addition we provide a compensation and damage claim service and our specialist staff include valuers for injurious affection claims and Expert Witnesses to represent our electricity, telecom and pipeline clients in Tribunal or Compulsory Rights cases.
