Glen Isla is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque of the Angus Glens, offering exceptional scenery and an abundance of outdoor pursuits. These include skiing at Glenshee, hillwalking and mountain biking, trout fishing on local lochs and reservoirs, birdwatching at the Lintrathen and Kinnordy nature reserves, and salmon fishing on the Rivers Isla and Ericht. Golfers are also well served, with courses at nearby Alyth and two championship courses in Blairgowrie.

The nearest village, Kirkton of Glenisla, provides a church and hotel, while the town of Alyth offers a good range of everyday amenities, including a butcher, Co op, post office, chemist, ironmonger and health centre.
